Tony S. An amazing juxtaposition of jazz, hip hop, rock, dub (not the steppin kind), with a touch of IDM, and a pinch of some 80's. The album is reminiscent of a homologation of Kruder & Dorfmeister, Lamb, Sleigh Bells, Little Annie, Santigold, and Amy Winehouse. I am aware that those are mostly female vocalists, and xlsrebelsx is mostly a dude singing, just the same I think those women better represent the general style. I really enjoy the fuzzy distorted vocals. WTF 500 Chars already I got more to sa Favorite track: hey chicc.

The "desire" ep showcases the many inspirations of producer/writer Anthony "L's" Cruz. From the catchy but vulgar Beatles infused background vocals on "hey chicc" to the tears for fears vibe on "cuht so deep". With the healthy dose of classic rock embedded into the albums core sound you can't help but hear that 80's synch lying right in between the very sombre but melodic vocals. With the undertones of an eclectic hip hop album you can here xlsrebelsx in the same playlist as a gnarls Barkley, Outkast, or for the hip hop enthusiast a hint of brand new heavies. Although the influences and inspirations are there. The originality of this EP is a creative refreshing look into a soul that is as human as can be.
